High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. I USED to be a huge fan of Applebees. But honestly I have been an even bigger fan of Fridays and Chilis. My husband and I heard about their 2 for $20 menu so we were having a date night and decided to check it out. We were seated right away, which is always nice. The waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't really check on us much to see if we needed anything. The food we order wasn't as good as I remember it being. We ordered the boneless buffalo wings, my husband loved them, I'm not a fan anyways. I had ordered a house salad, which I was provided a side of ranch which definitely wasn't enough dressing for my taste but I was never asked if anything was ok to get the chance to ask for more. We then ordered the chicken tender basket and steakhouse burger from the 2 for $20 menu. We planned on splitting the meals so we get a taste of both. They gave us four little chicken tenders. I think I probably would have got more chicken tenders going to BK or McDonalds. I wasn't very impressed. They were over cooked and the portions weren't very big. The burger was a lot better. I liked the onions strings on the top but if you don't like a lot of pepper you wouldn't want to order this burger. The 3 course dinner for $20 at Chilis is a lot better then Applebees. Overall I probably won't find myself going to this location again.

Don't order a steak here...they don't know how to cook one! My fiance had to send hers back twice...both were terribly overcooked (they were ordered as medium, and were so over cooked they were a gray color inside!).

I have been to many applebee's in many states and, while this was not the worst experience I've had, it was also not the best. The wait staff was slow, the food was mediocre. I've had better.

Let me start by saying the hostess and server were very friendly and good at their jobs. But since this is a restaurant I would expect the food to be much better than it was. Granted this is a chain so I don't expect a five-star dining experience but the food was truly awful. I ordered the Bourbon steak which I ordered medium rare. I could not tell how it was cooked - it looked like old meat that had been covered up with the bourbon sauce to disguise that fact. My sister ordered the macaroni and cheese which had little cheese flavor. The only thing we enjoyed was the appetizer. Even the margarita was not good; tasted like every thing else here: prepackaged or frozen from a food service. Having dinner here truly reminded me of why I so rarely eat out unless my budget allows me to eat at a fine restaurant that doesn't order their food from a service.

The boneless buffalo wings are ok. As are the burgers. Steak came out rubbery the one time we ordered it, and a chicken entree came out way too dry and stringy. This is typical chain restaurant food. The expectations should be as such.

Absolutely horrible experience! We waited and waited to order. Waited for our drinks, waited for 1/2 hour for our food then when my fajitas came - the 3rd bite I took I felt something sharp in my mouth-I pulled it out and it was a metal bristle from the grill brush! I sent my food back. The manager came by and apologized and they gave us our bill for all the rest of our food and drinks! Unbelievable! They did not even credit us for our drinks or my brothers lunch! Never again will I eat there. Also, my brother asked for butter which he never received. It's dangerous to eat there! Beware

Let me start by saying we were very disappointed this evening, I had just worked 10 hour shift bar tending at a local restaurant, we come in quiet frequently for cocktails after our shift, like 3 nights a week, we only had 2 shots and split a beer that we didn't even finish, went outside to smoke came back in and the manager,(heavyset girl, black hair) said we were cut off, now I can understand if we were obliviously drunk but we had just gotten there, saying our eyes were druppy, we usually split a meal or a appetizer but the bar tender refused to serve us.we could not believe this happened, I'm still in shock, this Apple bees lost a lot of business from us and not to mention we work at a restaurant literally right around the corner, she is bringing this Apple Bees down, it's a real shame, and just look at the rest of the reviews....what's that tell you about the management there, and I will be in contact with HER boss Jim.. That manager on duty was ridiculous,no reason for that behavior.. Don't go here!

We just left there. It wasn't busy we were sat and after 15 mins. And not being acknowledge we left.

Our waitress was very sweet and manager helpful but the food tasted... below average. I got cheeseburger sliders and it was packed with raw onions she forgot to ask how I wanted my meat cooked. They graciously changed my order but the boneless buffalo chicken tasted... ok. It's was great to watch the game there but that's about it

Cons: * They have a promotion going on. If the waitstaff doesn't offer you a mixed (or any) alcoholic beverage, you receive a free appetizer. The waiter took our water order, came back with the water, and took our lunch order. While chatting, my party saw the written promotion and called over the waiter to question it. The waiter stated that this was the first he had seen it and on promotions he has time to mention it up until we receive our check. Therefore, since we had not left, we can not receive it. We asked him to clarify that because it doesn't sound like a great deal - ordering food and receiving any type of beverage, *and then* be offered a cocktail before leaving. He stated in that respect we were right - since our meal has just started, but he has the right to come over at any time for the duration we are there and ask us if we are interested in the "special" beverage. So by not starting the conversation with it, doesn't mean we get a free appetizer. There was no logic in it, as he said it with such attitude, it was really off putting. He wanted to argue about it, so we voiced an opinion back. He gave in, just to make the conversation end. He told us he would honor it and make suggestions for appetizers. We decided on the potato twists - which are home made potato chip slices with a spicy dipping sauce. He said he'd put it in for us. We wait and 10 minutes later it comes out. Mind you, he already had our lunch order and stated he'd put it in. But when the chips were brought out, he said he'd put the lunch order in. * The over bearing "are you done yet?" We get a couple minutes into the appetizer and someone brings us our lunch. The minute it's put on the table, our waiter comes over and asks us if we want to box up what was left of the appetizer. We had just gotten it, literally, 5 minutes prior. We said we'd eat it while eating our lunch. Seriously, every few minutes he came over to ask us if we were done eating and wanted the check. No exaggeration - we were being rushed out before our meal got cold. When we said no, he stood by the corner register (which was a couple feet from our table) and glared at us, as if to say "hurry up". At one point we heard him say to a co worker that he was on a double, and didn't like it. Thus far, he only made $16 in tips. Well, if you act like an asshole, you're not going to make a lot. Plus, the restaurant wasn't even that busy. We were the only ones in his section. * The check comes and the appetizer has to be paid for The waiter tells us that no one has ever questioned the promotion before, because he has the right to offer a drink up until the check comes. Therefore, we must pay for the appetizer. No, we won't pay for it - the promotion doesn't say we have to wait until we pay to get a drink offer. Plus, he can make the suggestion at any time, even after the meal is completed and we are set to go home. Again, we questioned this; he said he'd get his manager. Manager comes over, and we state that the waiter never asked us for a drink, he took our order and wants to tell us to now pay for the appetizer he said would be free. Manager stated that it comes from corporate - that the waiter is right - he can offer alcohol up until we leave. Making him in the clear for us having to pay. Again, makes no sense. Why would corporate want your people to offer alcohol as they're leaving? Wouldn't you want people to sit longer if they had a drink from the beginning? Most people like to have a cocktail as they eat. Manager claims he understood, but his hands were tied - it was coming from corporate. When we threatened we'd call corporate, he said okay, and actually ended up taking the app off. There was a point where the waiter was trying to explain the process of offering a drink (in front of the manager), and the manager poked the waiter as if to say "shut up... you're making it worse". Which he was. He was trying to tell us that if he noticed my water glass empty at the end of the meal, he could justifiably say "I see your water glass is empty. Would you be interested in X or X?". Now, you see I finished my water and we want to leave. Meal is completed. Manager offers the coupon for free app on next visit. We refused; we wanted it off now. Manager relents. * We get the hint: you want us out when you start sweeping Aside from constantly asking us if we were done, he kept cleaning up around us. Finding busy work to make us leave. He vacuumed, he swept, he cleaned the tables. There was no one else in his section. He was bored. To the point that when it WAS time to pay, he took our money and chatted with his friends in the kitchen for 5 minutes before giving us our change. Mind you, this is all at one o'clock in the afternoon. Pros: * Not going back.

Best thing on the menu is the chicken wonton taco, hands down and with half off apps everyday after 9pm you can call me a regular here. It turns into club Applebee's on Fridays , they have a Dj spinning records and karaoke.

My wife, daughter and I dined at this Applebee's 12-15-2011 at the end of the evening rush. We ordered 2 salads and dessert. It seemed to take forever for our order to arrive. The third bite of my salad produced a sharp, rusty wire. I asked for a manager who took the residue of chicken and wire to a better light to inspect. When he returned he said it was only chicken and had hid the wire in his other hand. He then said it was piece from a grill brush. After pressure the manager offered another salad at no cost. This manager can ruin the best efforts of the staff.

Reading some of the older reviews, I guess I must be lucky. I've never had a bad meal in this store. I like the Bourbon Street steak. MrsO has a favorite oriental chicken salad. Service has always been good and attentive.

This location was dirty, the service was slow and the food was even worse. Employees were sitting in the dining area eating food where they were visible to patrons and should not have been. Screwed up order for the table next to us as well. Would not recommend this location. Our Applebee's back home is much better.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
